about
Jill is an artist, a graduate student and co-owner of Ringler Studios in Oakland, CA. She has a BFA in fine art and art history and is currently working on her Masters in counseling psychology with an emphasis on the expressive arts. In addition to making art and owning her own business in partnership with her husband, she works part time as a curator and gallery manager for the University Art Gallery at California State University, East Bay.
As an artist her main interest is how we use memories to tell stories. Often times her artwork uses animals to represent human characters, positioning them in a particular environment or scene that creates an ambiguous tale, inviting the viewer to use their own imagination. For her, making art is integral to living. She uses her creativity to make life more interesting and pleasurable and also understand the world around her. She hopes to someday use this personal experience to help others through her study of psychotherapy by integrating creative healing.
